Mike Stahl
FSA and Math Tutor
I was born and raised in Chicago and after 25 years of enduring some of the coldest winters, I decided to move to the warmest place I could think of. I currently reside in sunny San Diego, California with my beautiful wife, son, and the queen of the house – our dog, Koda.
Mentoring and tutoring have always had a special place in my heart as I really enjoy working with people and nothing gets me more excited than sharing in other’s success.
My qualifications
University of Illinois | 2011-2015
Actuarial Science major and Business minor
Credentialed Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) | 2019-present
Completed ASA within 4 years of starting exams (~20th percentile) and completed FSA 3 years afterwards (~40th percentile).
Cheiron | 2014-2017
Actuarial Analyst working on pension and healthcare clients. Worked with and learned from many established actuaries in the industry.
Arthur J. Gallagher | 2017-present
Financial Benefits Consultant with over 8 years of experience working in the healthcare spare. Not only am I heads down in numbers all day, but I am a mentor to many of my colleagues.
Why tutoring
Through mentoring at work, I learned that I am very passionate about teaching others about math and want to share my love for math with others. I started tutoring math on the side and have never looked back!
My main goals are to help assist each student understand the material better and more efficiently, assist with time management and test taking skills, but above all, I want to make math fun so my students can learn to love math as much as I do.
